چکیده
Rhamnus prinoides (gesho) which is belongs to the family Rhamnaceae and order Rhamnales a dicotyledonous angiosperm plant. In Ethiopia, plant utilized as bittering agent in local alcoholic beverages. Due its substance compositions it could have potential be used raw material for However, knowledge of hop substitute during beverage production limited. The major goal this research was investigate R. hops Bittering physic-chemical finished beer were done. Four types identified designated A, B, C D (control). analysis key brewing variables follows: total resin (15.96-16.02%), ISO-alpha acid (1.17-1.45 mg/l), alpha (1.44-1.92 essential oil (3-.0-3.07 %), obtained. Beer type (7.4+0.01%w/w 9.5+0.01%v/v) has been shown significantly (p<0.05) greater concentration alcohol comparison with other types. Real degree fermentation value (66.29+0.03%) different compared Bitterness (2.2 2.8) produced by range values (0-100) common hopped beer. bitter are comparable hop. This indicates that can serve breweries.

Predicting Offspring Performance in Hop (Humulus lupulus L
J. Am. Soc. Brew. Chem. 68(3):125-131, 2010 Genetic information for male and female hop accessions is limited, hampering parental selection to maximize offspring productivity. Our objective was to determine whether amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP)derived genetic distance (GDmm) estimates and coancestry estimates from pedigrees (GSped) between parental pairs could be used to predict...
متن کاملMicrobial profile of Tella and the role of gesho (Rhamnus prinoides) as bittering and antimicrobial agent in traditional Tella (Beer) production
Tella is widely brewed in Ethiopia. The quality may be deteriorated by microbial contaminants. Determination of profile of spoilage microorganisms in tella, bittering agents and antimicrobial activity of gesho are important. Therefore, the objective was to determine microbial dynamics of tella phases, bittering agents and the antimicrobial activity of gesho. Tella fermentation was carried out u...
متن کاملInhibitors of nitric oxide production from hops (Humulus lupulus L.).
Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in many inflammatory responses and is also involved in carcinogenesis. In the present study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of extracts from Humulus lupulus L. on both the production of NO and the expression of inducible NO synthase (iNOS) in mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cells. The production of NO was induced by a combination of lipopolysaccharide...
متن کاملProtocol for systematic review and meta-analysis: hop (Humulus lupulus L.) for menopausal vasomotor symptoms
INTRODUCTION Menopause is a critical stage in every woman's life. It can cause a distressing time for women by creating various vasomotor symptoms (VMS). Phytoestrogens can potentially exert various favourable effects and alleviate VMS in postmenopausal women. The hop (Humulus lupulus L.) contains 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN), the most potent phytoestrogen known to date. The hop is eight times str...
